Duplicating objects you love can be made easy by making a silicone mold and filling it with a QUIKRETE Concrete Mix.
When working with cement-based products, always wear eye protection and waterproof gloves.
Step 1
Select the object being molded and cast.
Step 2
Cut off top of water bottle, and then, make a second cut ½ an inch above the top of the object to make a tube for the mold.
Step 3
Cut a 1 inch wide band from the remaining water bottle as a support for the mold.
Step 4
Cut a piece of plastic from another bottle, as the base, and hot glue the object to the plastic bottom.
Step 5
Hot glue the tube to the plastic base around the object and ensure it is sealed and water tight.
Step 6
Pour water into the tube and cover the entire object to ensure it won’t leak.
Step 7
Pour that water into the cup made of the bottom part of the water bottle.
Step 8
Draw a line at the top of the water to show how much silicone you will need.
Step 9
Mix and pour the silicone into the tube and then let cure.
Step 10
Cut away any plastic from the outside of the silicone mold.
Step 11
Remove the object from inside the silicone mold.
Tip: You may need to cut the silicone to help free the object and if so, try to cut the silicone where it will be least visible on the mold.
Step 12
Slide the 1 inch plastic ring around the silicone mold to hold it tightly together.
Step 13
Mix the concrete, following the instructions on the bag, and pour the mix into the mold.
Tip: Make the concrete a little more watery than usual to help it pour easier into the small mold.
Step 14
Tap and vibrate the mold to remove as many air bubbles as possible and let cure.
Step 15
Remove the plastic ring from outside of silicone mold.
Step 16
Cut silicone and remove the concrete copy
