Stites Tunnel Bridge

Originally built as a steel girder structure in 1911 and reconstructed in 1941, the Stites Tunnel Bridge over Paradise Creek on Route 191 connects Stroud Township and Barrett Township. Revitalizing the aging 530-foot wide by 35-foot wide tunnel bridge was highlighted by of a new concrete box culvert giving the bridge no vehicle weight restrictions and extensive concrete repairs using QUIKRETE® Shotcrete MS – Fiber Reinforced. Nearly 1.3 million pounds of shotcrete was spray-applied to make repairs up to 2’ deep in the concrete bridge deck. The $8 million Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project gives more than 5,000 drivers per day peace of mind while traveling on the Stites Tunnel Bridge.

QUIKRETE® Shotcrete MS – Fiber Reinforced is a single component Micro Silica enhanced repair material that achieves more than 9,000 PSI at 28 days, and features very low rebound and permeability characteristics.
